Take me away to the Coast: Marissa & Bryan’s Engagement session getaway!
What can I say… When a best friend who is like a little brother calls you and says hey brother guess what I’ am proposing. Well, my ears perked up, and a ball of excitement comes out of me and say hell yea I’ am so happy and stoked for you, when are we planning things out lol.
When Bryan called me and told me it was months in advance, he had everything planned, from where, when and what time. From then on, we talked over the months after the proposal and talked about details for the engagement session, and wedding.
Once I heard Marissa was in love with the Oregon coast and that is where they wanted to photograph their engagement session at, I was so excited because the coast was one place I have dreamed of shooting at. With months of planning, with dates locked down, and a game plan on where to shoot which was at Cannon beach with the one and only Haystack rock. We were all set for a few days in October.
Once October hit with a jammed packed October full of sessions and weddings, I was ready for a month packed of fun. As I traveled back to the East coast, I had two big weddings back-to-back. From traveling through New Jersey on Friday and then up to the mountains in PA on Saturday which left Sunday to be a long travel day. Leaving early Sunday morning, 2 am wake up call to catch a 4:30 am flight back home to the west coast in Sacramento, Ca.
Once the wheels touched down on the runway, I grabbed my bags, got picked up from my girlfriend and our dog and we had a 10-hour long drive from Sacramento up to Oregon. Well, we didn’t drive the full 10 hours lol, so we stopped in grants pass, Oregon and enjoyed a night in and got ready for another long drive the following day.
As the day came, breakfast in our bellies, coffee to go we hit the road. Rain was in the forecast throughout the day, but I was hoping for a moody coast trip anyway, so that didn’t bother us.
When we arrived at Cannon Beach, we unpacked and started to get ready. With my girlfriend (who is a Hair specialist) started to get hair flowing, as Bryan started to get all spruced up. While chatter was going, things starting to get in place, I got the all the gear set up and ready to get creative.
When we got to the beach, it was what I imagined, moody af lol loving and taking it all in. Now it was time to get the show on the road. Gear ready, toes in the sand, and two loves, nervous but so ready to start this chapter. The session started out amazing with the two dancing and running on the beach, through the water as the waves crash, seagulls all around. As other couples taking in what we were doing and enjoying the happiness all around.
As the session was ending, sunset was coming in hot, we took it in for a bit, in the distant we saw fires on the beach. As I got the idea, Bryan says let’s just ask someone if we can use it for some photos, but also to warm up hahaha. A nice couple was glad to have us be a part of their moment to snap some killer photos, once we finished we took the rest of the time to walk on the beach, and made a plan to get some amazing clam chowder and beers to put a stamp of success on this amazing trip and engagement session. As the night went on telling stories, enjoy great company, food and amazing beer the trip finally came to an end, now it was time to get ready for a Kansas city wedding with these two Be sure to check out their amazing session, it was one to never forget.
